FEZERO HERO by TheGreyNinja FEZERO HERO by TheGreyNinja
the word "scout" just has so many sniper-esque qualities that jump out at me. plus, i LOVE the idea of a ridiculously huge bow you have to assemble.
that said, this sniper has a spotter, who's also a huge man beast (not pictured, due to time constraints) that lugs around all the equipment and loads the weapon. in close encounters, man beast spotter guy uses the beastly arrows as javelins and large stabbing/bludgeoning devices, and our little sniper buddy gets the sweet bow parts that also double as cool katana.. thingies.. heh.

hope you like.

Dude, that's freaking awesome. I swear, this needs to be a thing in some anime somewhere. Do you mind if I use the concept in a story sometime in the future?

heh. very flattering - thanks man!
i've actually got a story i came up with about 5 or 6 years ago where he and his buddy should fit in quite nicely. hope to start working on that within the next couple of years..

mind if you use the concept?? depends on how - so long as nobody's making money off it besides me, it's all good! ;)
heh heh..

Lol, no money being made. I just like the concept of the giant bow/gun being wielded by a tiny individual and his large friend to back him up. It sounded both effective and entertaining, no easy feat.

dude - you shoulda seen this before the color adjustment tweaking (HORRIBLE!!.. haha..)

seriously though, thanks man! i feel like i had a HUGE breakthrough not too long ago - was taking this advanced figure drawing class, and studying JC Leyendecker in another class at the same time... and suddenly a bunch of stuff just started to make more sense.... it was like i was LEARNING or something. imagine that. hahaha.. also, recently i'm no longer afraid to get all 'painterly' and shiz in certain places where i want to.

also, i still plan on doing something cel-shade-esque just for you. haha.. i gotta try getting in on that party a little bit at some point.

hahaha u learnding...wah?? i just realised the other day that with the way i handle my highlights ive gained more control of the stylus on the wacom plus that in itself has helped me to better understand lighting techniques. so that being said i might try my hand at some photoshop paintings. in the past when ive done i was never pleased with them so i never took them further but having had a bit more practice in a round about way i might give it a go a bit more. who is this JC leyendecker person and are they worht lookin up?? i have done life drawing in close to 2 months and im really starting to miss it, i got so much out of it being back and then uni and life had me by the balls and i didnt have time, but im gonna endeavour to make it in the next few weeks.

im pretty keen to see your approach to cel-shading, i reckon ud give it a really unique touch, specially with hte way u handle colours. best be doing something soon ey!!

WORD!! haha..
yeah man, rock it for my eye socket!

Norman Rockwell wanted to BE this JC Leyendecker guy back in the day, and copied him pretty hardcore at first, and then Rockwell went all super saiyan 8 when he finally started being himself... heh. but yeah, Leyendecker's def worth a look up. super hardcore figure drawer as much as he was a designer with his stuff. if you can find bigger versions of his stuff, its cool to see how simple/effective/bold he was with texture.

i shall attempt to get to some cel-shades post-haste, good sir!

just had a look at JC L and N R both are rockin some sweet shit, u been lookin them up over the net or in books?? might have to get my hands on some books of their art if i can find any :P they remind me of alphonse mucha, brilliant art nouveau artist. id love to be able to come up with art half as good as theirs but even then thats only gonna take practice. im thinkin when i finish my graphic design degree this year im gonna do a fine art degree but instead of starting from 1st i might see if i can jump straight into 2nd year a credit from my current course and a folio full of drawing.

gotta start lookin at more influential artists now!!

i gots me a huge fat book on Rockwell i've had for a while, most of Leyendecker's stuff i've seen just here and there in slides, on the net, etc. but yeah, i guess Mucha was actually a huge influence on Leyendecker, so that's cool! heh.

do it man! me too.. i feel like i've been ignoring a lot of influential peeps who could teach me a thing or two if i just tried to open my eyes a little more and be less ignorant on purpose..

i might check on amazon for some books by the two artists coz itd be really handy just to have when i get stuck for inspiration, ive actually got a few magazines ive been meaning to looking through but just havent gotten around to it. one thing id wanna do with some books on the two artists is copy some of their, not in amateur way but to learn from their techniques and reapply it to mine!!
