that being said - HOLY EFF BOMBS!!1!11!!!01010001110!!! MEGA MAN X9 IS ACTUALLY OUT?????????????? AND ON THE WII NO LESS?? X9 TRULY MUST BE LIKE THE 'LUKE SKYWALKER' OF THE MEGAMAN FRANCHISE BRINGING BALANCE BACK TO THE FORCE.

heh heh... too good to be true. you guys are pretty sharp. while i was making this box art just for fun, i stumbled upon some fan site i decided to play a dirty little joke on - thought i'd do a less cryptic version here on DA too really quick, and end it in a few days just for fun. for more detailed account, along with some of the detailed action on said fan site, check out my blog - [link]

who knows. Mega Man 9 happened - why not X9?? i have hope.

i don't normally do little edits (especially after 3 years,) but i got called out on Mega Man's face being weird... 3 years ago i probably would've gotten all prideful and defensive about it (and probably did) but yeah. they're totally right. ;)

so yeah, little fixes.. color tweaks and a bit of occlusion shadow, and a hint of zoom blur while i was at it. here's a link to the original - [link]

What I meant is what animals would you base the 8 maverick bosses on.

I know what you meant.. I was just being a punk:]. Also, I was trying to hint at how details like that aren't super important to me... I think the type of story/experience you design for a game should influence what your bosses are - not the other way around.

True. I have a few ideas of my own:

It has been 2 years since the New Generation Reploids were brought into production, with corrupted copy chips. Axl, who was dealt a blow by Lumine, is nearly losing himself. He takes out his untainted chip and places it on a table. To make sure his allies are safe, he leaves the Hunters so no one would ever be hurt by him again. With no other Reploids to utilize this, X takes a risky endeavor, he asks Lifesaver to implant the chip in one of Dr. Cain's final creations, Iris.

Join X, Zero and Iris as they find clues to Axl's past in the hopes that humanity will find a future.

Mega Man X9, coming soon to the Wii U.

Mavericks will be:
Element Alicorn (Female)
Aqua Starfish (Male)
Slash Griffin
Frigid Polarski
Solar  Butterfly (Female)
Tri Cerbes
Rock Elephant
Time Cockatrice

I think it's a nice story.. but it's not a game yet. Meaning, if you want to have an awesome story for a game - you'd better have an idea of what kind of game mechanics you want/interesting ways the player can interact with the game that compliment the story, or help tell it, or help the player experience it - which is actually a lot of work..

Not trying to put you're idea down, and I'm not saying its wrong - I'm just super into game design. :tmnt1:

Well, one gimmick I will NEVER add is the rescuable reploids. Those were awful in X7, so we'll use the same upgrade system from X8. Challenges will not return since the Inferno caused eye problems if you stare for too long. Iris can utilize Axl's copy chip, plus no ranking system since none can get triple A for all the stages. Finally, a glimpse into the future with DLC featuring bosses from the Zero Series and ZX series.

Neat huh?

...game design needs to be much broader before you start locking in details like that.
